Julien Brazeau

Julien is a Partner at Deloitte, where he advises financial services clients, as well as financial sector agencies, departments and crowns on the policy, strategy and risk implications of open data, technology led innovation and digital transformation in the financial sector. Prior to joining Deloitte, Julien worked at the Department of Finance Canada in roles of increasing responsibility, including most recently as Director General at the Department of Finance Canada where he led the financial services group focused on policy development for financial services innovation, payments, consumer protection and market conduct. His work has been instrumental in shaping the payments modernization and open banking journeys in Canada. Prior to working at the Department of Finance, Julien was Associate Deputy Commissioner – Policy and Advocacy at Canada’s Competition Bureau. In this capacity, he led the Competition Bureau’s work advocating for pro-competition and innovation regulatory responses to new and emerging business models, including the Bureau’s 18-month market study into technology led innovation in the financial sector.
